Lack of taste somehow tastes good

Lately I've been inspired of many unstylish things, such as rapper Nicki Minaj. Most of the time she looks like an ungly doll, but lately also like a beautiful barbie in different variety of packages.

Madonna was from the beginning, and still is often, rated unstylish based on her looks and salacious attitude, but she has influenced strongly on fashion since the 80's. When I first saw Lady Gaga's Poker Face video, it was totally cheap disco music for me, after some months and after other songs I sang along and was admiringly browsing Gaga's special looks in net. In Gaga's gigs girls of all ages in different cities are wearing something gagaish.

After all it might be that those tastless and unstylish are the coolest thing you can imagine just after you get to used to it. For younger generation sucking in influneces comes as natural as chipping Pepsi Max but for us others it is inspiring just after a while and then tastes really sweet.

I found a nice surprice in Helsinki-Vantaa airport's Terminal 1 gates. At first glimpse it seemed like a very modest white space, but actually that was the idea of Sit Down - Seize the Moment. It is a gallery of design chairs, where you can select your favourite one and sit down, seize the moment in silence.
This area relaxed me before flight to Paris. Notes on the wall had similar message. I hope we will have possibility to experience more this kind of design soon.

160 Reasons to Celebrate
Both my grandparents turned 80 years the same year and decided to arrange, together with their children, a160-year birthday party. Celebrations were relatively large, suitably solemn, and highly successful in every way. For me the best thing about the occasion was meeting the relatives that I had not seen for ages.

As a child, besides the beginning of the school year and Christmas Eve, the birthday used to be the highlight of the year. Since then I have grown tired of aging and my birthday, as well as Christmas. I started to warm up over Christmas a year ago and after the 160-year birthday party I thought; why not! Perhaps next summer I could have a relaxed birthday party myself, celebrate the vibrant years with the loved ones.
Arranging a large celebration requires organizational skills, but one only needs to make up their mind to have a small home party. Just call the folks over to your house, buy some ready-made cakes if you have no time to bake and enjoy good company. Punch and balloons would make a nice addition.

160 syytä juhlia
Isovanhempani täyttivät molemmat samana vuonna 80-vuotta, ja päättivät yhdessä lastensa kanssa järjestää 160-vuotis syntymäpäiväjuhlat. Juhlat olivat suhteellisen suuret, sopivan juhlavat, erittäin onnistuneet kaikin puolin. Omalta kannaltani kivointa oli sukulaisten tapaaminen, olimme pitkästä aikaa koossa.
Lapsena synttärit olivat koulun alkamisen sekä jouluaaton lisäksi vuoden kohokohta. Nyttemmin kyllästyin ikääntymiseen ja sitä myötä synttäreihini. Niin kävi myös muuten joulun kanssa, en oikein viitsinyt juhlistaa sitäkään kummoisesti. Joululle aloin lämmetä reilu vuosi sitten uudelleen, ja noiden 160-v juhlien jälkeen ajattelin synttärijuhlista, että why not. Ehkä ensi kesän kynnyksellä voisikin pitää rennot synttäripirskeet oman itseni kunniaksi, juhlistaa elinvoimaisia vuosiani läheisten kanssa.
Suurten juhlien järjestely vaatii organisointikykyä, mutta pienet kotibileet saa aikaan vankan päätöksen voimalla. Sen kun vaan kutsuu porukkaa kylään, ostaa vaikkapa valmiit leivokset ellei ehdi kakkua leipoa ja nauttii hyvästä seurasta. Booli ja ilmapallot olisivat kiva lisä.
