postheadericon Reserved Beauty / Kauneutta varattu

Reserved Beauty

Not using lot's of them myself, I still enjoy cosmetics a lot. Mostly because the bottles and jars are so pretty, and because advertising is visually so amazing. I also like the trend of using actors in beauty ads, they usually are very beautiful and have that extra something in their persona.

Normally I don't read those small printed and folded notes which follow with cosmetic buys, but this time I found line "Reserved beauty" in cosmetic company Sensai's papers and wanted to read it trough.

They say magnificent lines, making it sound like it is never too late. Now I have made reservation to keep my youthness and beauty in our bath room (stored in those beautiful white cosmetic bottles). Amazing stuff, I've already used first bottle. But who writes those lyrics for these products?

Kauneutta varattu

postheadericon Axelicious

Earlier I wrote about Axe's angelic ad, which amused and pleased me. There has been another funny angel ad out there a while. The story is about what is it to date an angel. :)

Enkelijatko-osa on hauska sekin, kertoo millaista on tapailla enkeliä. :)

Even more hilarious is their hair product ad. Made me laught on loud. Lovely music by the way.

/ Vieläkin hausempi on Axen hiustuotemainos, joka sai kikattamaan ääneen. Musiikkikin on ihana.

They must have incredibly fun when creating stories for these ads. What a job.

/ Heillä on varmasti mahdottoman hauskaa noita tarinoita keksiessään. Vieläpä työkseen.

postheadericon The Ultimate Storyteller Lady Gaga

I saw Gaga live in Helsinki last autumn. Last week I saw her on tv, same show as in Helsinki was filmed in Madison Square Garden.

In the beginning there were people telling stories they believed to be true. Then came the marketing people, artists and politics. Elvis Presley and President Kekkonen hold remarkable stories of their childhood and success.

Today is very much about stories and Lady Gaga. Every brand has a story to be told of themselves and about every product of theirs. People like stories. It is easier to remember and understand things when they are in a story-format, beginning-middle-end.

Gaga’s show is a combination of art forms, standing for equality and entertainment. She’s a brilliant performance artist and story teller. Her success story is amazing and the phenomena around this Mother Monster, one of a kind. She has done much for her age (26!), for example set foundation called Born This Way Foundation, for empowering youth and inspiring bravery. Go Gaga, I’m loving it.

End of story.

postheadericon I fell in love with India / Ihastui hän Intiaan

I fell in love with India

I have been thinking about branding lately when writing my thesis. How brands affect on people through images, stories and dreams. Last year I went to India for the very first time and totally fell in love with friendly, carefree and colourful culture. This is most probably the reason I specially like Louis Vuitton's India campaign. I borrowed campaign photos from Vuitton site, hope you enjoy.

Lainasin kampanjan kuvat Vuittonin sivulta, toivottavasti pidät.

postheadericon Fashion Relationships / Muotisuhteita

The Kooples pair has been a couple for 1 year / The Kooples -pariskunta on ollut yhdessä vuoden

Fashion Relationships

I have liked ads and clothing of Comptoir des Cotonniers since I first saw them in the mid 90's. Their mother-daughter relationship theme was unique, the mother was presented as a youthful and cool person who can use same style as her daughter. Relationship was real as they have picked real mother-daughter pairs to their ads. However the clothes were stylish, not anything too teenage for a credible mom.

I am still buying the concept. A while back I saw blogger Miss Pandora in an ad with her mother in Comptoir des Cotonniers ad. It is nice to see that good ideas (even in marketing) can last maybe not forever but tens of years.

Recently I have seen girlfrind-boyfriend relation theme in ads by The Kooples. I believe they are real couples. All the couples are cute, somehow very fresh and up to the date. Style of these couples is unite but not boringly unisex and their clothes are very stylish. I see there some hip seventies vibe but there is also lot's of classic black in the collection.

These relation themes are to me cosy but also cool. There must be more of these out there.

The Kooples ad / The Kooples -mainos

Muotisuhteita

The Kooplesillakin on suhdemainoksia, tyttöystävä-pokaystävä -teemalla.

postheadericon Little big deeds / Pieniä suuria tekoja

Brooks England produces not only traditional bicycle saddles but also wonderfully witty ads to promote them. Their latest ad is oozing quintessential English country life at first glance. Taking a deeper look reveals more profound meanings though. Even traditional can be funny and take a stand.

Brooks England stylish ad. / Brooks Englannin tyylikäs mainos.

Brooks England on polkupyörän nahkaisia satuloita valmistava yritys, mutta heillä on myös upeita vitsikkäitä mainoksia. Uudessa mainoksessa karusta aiheesta on tehty ensi silmäyksellä klassista englantilaista kartanomaaseutua huokuva, mutta muutama tarkempi silmäys avaa enemmän ja keikauttaa asian ikäänkuin päälaelleen. Traditionaalinenkin voi olla hauska sekä samalla kantaaottava.

postheadericon Ystävällistä markkinointia / Friendly Marketing

Aamuisella metromatkalla huomasin lehteen liimatun pinkin post-itin. Luulin jonkun jättäneet jollekulle viestin, mutta ei. Söpö markkinointi-idea ystävänpäivän kunniaksi Welholta.

I thought someone had left message on magazine found in subway. Too nice to be true. Welho Inc had discovered a new cute way of marketing on Valentine's Day, saying it with pink post-it.
